In this chapter, Damien concludes his negotiations with King Edmond without Mat, who is still recovering from the attack. In an effort to protect Mat from any retaliation from King Edmond, Damien shares some valuable information about himself and Sabine with the King, and is rewarded with an unexpected piece of information that promises to shift the balance between him and Sabine. Is their exchange enough to keep Mat safe, or will King Edmond turn against him?
