In this chapter, Gabriel comes face to face with a strange and unpredictable creature unique to the Drops, which barely survived the mad dash to the orbiting city after the meteorite destroyed life on Earth. Lee guides him through the process of encountering this creature, and he finds himself entranced. But when he and Lee speak later, he unknowingly disobeys and Lee, for the first time, sets a serious punishment. When Gabriel’s unintential deception goes deeper than expected, the punishment doubles and Gabriel realizes that all of his flexibility with the yakuza is gone.
